Studying in the UK is a dream for thousands of international students every year. Known for its world-class universities, diverse culture, and strong career opportunities, the UK offers a rich academic experience. To study in the UK, most international students need a Student Visa (also called the Student Route visa). Here are the most frequently asked questions and answers to help you understand the UK Student Visa process and prepare your application confidently.



A UK Student Visa allows international students to study full-time at a licensed UK university, college, or school. It is the main visa for students coming from outside the UK and is often called the “Student Route” visa.



You are eligible if: – You have an unconditional offer from a UK institution approved by the Home Office. – You have a valid CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies). – You can show proof of sufficient funds for tuition and living costs. – You meet English language requirements.



You can apply up to 6 months before your course starts if applying from outside the UK, or 3 months before your course starts if applying from inside the UK.



Standard processing usually takes about 3 weeks when applying from outside the UK. Inside the UK, applications can take up to 8 weeks, depending on the type of application. Priority services may be available in some countries.



You will need: – CAS letter from your university/college – Valid passport – Proof of funds (bank statements or financial documents) – English language certificate (if required) – Academic documents used to obtain your offer – Tuberculosis test results (for certain countries) – Proof of relationship if applying with dependents



You must show that your required funds (tuition + living expenses) have been in your account for at least 28 consecutive days before your visa application date. Even a one-day gap can cause refusal.

 

You need to show: – Tuition fee for the first year of your course (or the whole course if it’s less than one year). – Living expenses: – £1,334 per month (up to 9 months) if studying in London. – £1,023 per month (up to 9 months) if studying outside London.

 

Yes. The IHS is a yearly fee that allows you to access the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) for medical treatment during your stay.





A CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) is an electronic reference number given by your university/college once you accept an offer. It contains details about your course, fees, and personal information, and is required to apply for your visa.



 

 

Yes, but with restrictions: – Up to 20 hours per week during term-time. – Full-time during holidays and vacation periods. You cannot take permanent full-time jobs or be self-employed.
