Complete Guide to Studying in the UK

Study in UK

International students, including those from India, need a Student Visa (formerly Tier 4 Visa) to study in the UK. The visa allows you to pursue full-time courses, work part-time during your studies (under certain conditions), and potentially gain post-study work experience.

Key highlights of studying in the UK

Academic Excellence
  • Home to world-renowned universities like Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, and LSE.
  • Globally respected qualifications that boost employability.
  • Strong focus on research, innovation, and critical thinking.
  • Undergraduate degrees typically 3 years (instead of 4).
  • Master’s degrees often 1 year (instead of 2).
  • Saves time and reduces tuition and living costs.
  • UK qualifications are accepted worldwide.
  • High employability prospects in global job markets.
  • Flexibility to choose from thousands of programs.
  • Strong specialisations in business, engineering, medicine, law, and creative arts.
  • Students can work up to 20 hours per week during term time.
  • Post-Study Work Visa (Graduate Route) allows graduates to stay and work for 2 years (3 years for PhD holders).

Documents Required for Your University Application

Group-73.png
  1. Academic Transcripts – Marksheets and certificates from previous education (10th, 12th, graduation, post-graduation).
  2. Degree Certificates – Proof of completion of previous qualifications.
  3. Personal Statement – A detailed essay describing your academic goals, career plans, and motivation for studying in the UK.
  4. Letters of Recommendation – Typically 1–2 academic references.
  5. English Language Proof – IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent (if required by the university).
  6. Passport Copy – Valid for the duration of your course.
  7. Resume/CV – Especially for postgraduate courses.

Once your documents are ready, BritGlobal Educational Group helps you apply to universities, ensuring that your application meets the admission criteria.

Pre CAS Interview

After submitting your university application, some UK institutions may conduct a Pre-CAS Interview. This is a formal discussion with the university to:

  • Confirm your academic qualifications.
  • Assess your English proficiency.
  • Evaluate your understanding of the chosen course.
  • Check your intention to study in the UK genuinely.

Our team at BritGlobal Educational Group guides students through mock interviews, question preparation, and documentation — increasing your chances of a smooth approval.

CAS Letter (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies)

Once you are offered a place in a UK institution, you will receive a CAS Letter, which is essential for your visa application.

  • Issued by the university, the CAS confirms your acceptance and provides a unique reference number for the UK Home Office.

  • It contains details about your course, tuition fees paid, and study period.

  • You cannot apply for your visa without a CAS.

BritGlobal Educational Group ensures that your CAS is issued accurately and guides you on how to use it effectively in your visa application.

We pride ourselves on our direct partnerships and official tie-ups with leading UK institutions, which enables us to offer students exclusive access to programs, simplified application procedures, and zero service charges for university placements.

At BritGlobal Educational Group, our mission is to empower students with accurate information, comprehensive pre-departure support, and continuous assistance throughout their educational journey — helping you turn your UK study dreams into reality with confidence and ease.

Knowledge of English

Knowledge of English for UK Student Visa

To study in the UK, proving your English language ability is a mandatory requirement for a UK Student Visa. Both universities and the UK Home Office require applicants to demonstrate English proficiency to ensure they can succeed in their academic program.

Accepted English Tests

Students can meet the requirement through one of the following approved tests:

  • IELTS Academic (UKVI version – most widely accepted)
  • PTE Academic UKVI
  • TOEFL IBT (accepted by many UK universities)
  • LanguageCert International ESOL SELT
  • Trinity College London SELT (for applicants already in the UK)

Minimum score requirements differ by course and university. Our experts evaluate your English level, recommend the most suitable test, and guide you with preparation support.

Financial Requirement and 28-Day Rule

To obtain a UK student visa, you must prove that you can financially support yourself during your studies.

  • Tuition Fees: Must be paid or partially paid as per the CAS letter.
  • Living Costs: You must show you have enough money to cover living expenses. For example, as of 2025:
    • London: £1,334 per month (up to 9 months)
    • Outside London: £1,023 per month (up to 9 months)

28-Day Rule: You must have held the required funds in your bank account for at least 28 consecutive days before applying for the visa.

Example of 28-Day Funds Requirement (Living Costs Only)

Suppose you are an Indian student applying for a Student Visa to study in the UK. You need to show that you have enough funds to cover your living costs for 9 months outside London (£1,023 per month).

  1. Living Costs: £1,023 × 9 months = £9,207

28-Day Rule:

  • You must have at least £9,207 in your bank account for 28 consecutive days immediately before your visa application.
  • For example, if you plan to apply for your visa on 1 October 2025, your bank statements should show at least £9,207 from 3 September 2025 to 30 September 2025, without dropping below this amount.

Important Notes:

  • Funds can be in your own account or a parent’s account, as long as you can provide proof of access.
  • Official bank statements are required to prove that the money has been held for 28 consecutive days.
  • Any withdrawal or drop below the required amount during the 28 days will make the visa application invalid.

Partner & Children (Dependent Visa)

If you are planning to bring your family to the UK while studying, your partner and children can apply for a dependent visa.

  • Eligible dependents can live, and in some cases, work or study in the UK.
  • Financial requirements are higher to support your family during your stay.
  • Documents required include marriage certificates, birth certificates, and proof of relationship.

We assist students in preparing dependent visa applications and ensuring all requirements are met.
